Fast food to fuel cop cars

(學習重點:加了黃色螢光標記的詞組)

Police in Manila (馬尼拉) are trying to convert patrol cars to run on a mixture of diesel and used cooking oil from McDonald's.

With oil prices at crippling highs, the project would convert cars in Makati City (馬卡提市) financial district to run on a mix of 40 percent diesel and 60 percent reprocessed cooking oil.

The cooking oil comes from the Makati outlets of the fast-food giant, and other restaurants are also considering joining in. One car has been converted in the test run.

Anything similar being cooked up in Hong Kong ?

There should be, because key ingredients – expensive fuel, lots of vehicles, McDonald's and more – are readily available.

But the will to do it may be in short supply.
