千變萬化的英語動詞(三)

公司樓下有一道十分有個性的玻璃門,平常的玻璃門任人推拉,但那道門卻只可以拉 (pull) 而不可以推 (push),有時見路人撞板,忍不住掩著半邊嘴笑:誰叫你不看門上的指示?活該讓你出洋相!


說起動詞 pull,其實除了「拉」外,還有別的解釋和譯法,例如:


1. She pulled back her hand. (縮開手。)


2. Don't pull the trigger! (槍板!)


3. They pulled in huge crowds on their latest tour. (在最近一次巡迴演出,他們吸引了大批群眾。)


4. He is pulling some sort of trick on you. (他想你。)


5. The event was pulled at the last moment. (節目最後一刻告取消)


留意第二句,應該經常在警匪片中會聽到啊!
