The whole of science is nothing more than a refinement of everyday thinking.

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.

Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.

I have no particular talent. I am merely inquisitive.

A person starts to live when he can live outside himself.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity

Two things inspire me to awe – the starry heavens above and the moral universe within.

Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.

Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.

If A is success in life, then A = x + y + z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.

  1. is there a two-character Chinese expression for inquisitive?  I read somewhere that when men do it, it's called inquisitive, but when women do it, it's called nosiness   I am neutral on the last one, because I minimize x, maximize y, and middle of the road, on the minimum side, on z...

  4. Ok, I thought 好奇 was curious...     By maybe inquisitive is similar. Anyway, no, it was said by feminists, who were lamenting on the cultural norm of the times.  They had a good point, methinks.
    [版主回覆05/07/2011 14:44:00]If not 好奇, I can't think of another two-character expression.
