跟外籍同事去飲茶，填點心紙的責任通常會落在本地同事身上。不過這天老板決定打破傳統，讓外籍同事肩負這項神聖的任務。
由於由外籍同事負責填點心紙，於是頻道便由廣東話轉到英語。雖然在公司一向慣用英語溝通，但去到叫點心時卻出了問題──到底「兩籠牛肉」的英文怎麼說？
「那個蒸籠叫 bamboo steamer，是否叫 two bamboo steamers of beef balls？」
「吓，咁怪？點心英文叫 dim sum dishes，我看叫 two dishes of beef balls吧？」
「咪住，牛肉放在碟子上，應該叫 two plates of beef balls 才對？」
大家你一言，我一語，爭持不下，最後由外籍同事裁決，判詞如下：
Well, if we really have to say it, we'll probably say 'two lots of beef balls'.
嘻嘻，又學到嘢啦。

回覆刪除[版主回覆10/20/2011 13:30:02]剛問過同事，可以用 helping。其實在日常生活中，西人很少會說到「兩籠點心」的，所以不必怕太文。不過一提到 helping，我就立即想起吃自助餐呢。

蒸籠係中式點心特有，要譯得夠傳神，可能真係要譯埋個「籠」字喎。

哈哈。因為工作關係﹐lots 的數量很大。。。通常都是以千為單位。所以two lots of beef balls....好多喔~~~
